About Krzysztof Borysiewicz

Polish Bass, Krzysztof Borysiewicz, was born in Warsaw and began singing with the Warsaw Boys Choir at the age of nine. He furthered his musical studies at the Fryderyk Chopin Music Academy, and while still a student, made his professional operatic debut in 1992 as Bartolo in Il Barbiere d i Siviglia with Polish National Opera.
In 1995 he won the 33 rd International Francisco Viñas Competition in Barcelona. Following master classes with Carlo Bergonzi (Siena, Parma) and with the Accademia Verdiana in Busetto, he was engaged from 2001-2003 by the Mainfranken Theater Würzburg, followed by his engagement in 2004-2008 with the Salzburger Landestheater. Here he performed, to great acclaim, such roles as Filipp o ( Don Carlo), Zacch aria ( Nabucco), Daland ( Der fliegende Holländer), Leporello ( Don Giovanni) and Kezal ( Die v erkaufte Braut). His guest engagements and tours have taken him throughout Europe, Japan, Canada and the USA.
From 2009 until 2013 Krzysztof Borysiewicz was part of the opera ensemble of the Staatstheater Kassel, where he performed numerous roles, including Méphistophélès i n Gounods Faust, the Graf von Gloster ( Lear) and the title role in Don Pasquale. Further performances include Titurel in Parsifa l, Rocco in Fidelio, and Sarastro in Die Zauberflöte.
In 2012 he made his debut with Theater an der Wien, as part of the Wiener Festwochen, as The Mar chese in La Traviata. In 2013 he was invited by the Glyndebourne Festival to cover the title role in Don Pasquale. The 2013-2014 Season brought his debut with the Musiktheater im Revier, Gelsenkirchen as Mustafa in L‘Italiana in Algeri and as the title role in Jules Massenet’s Don Quichotte, as well as his debut with Operea de Lille in Robert Carsen’s production of The Cunning Little Vixen.
In January 2015 he returns to France, making his debut with Opera Dijon in the role of Savël Prokofjevic Dikój in Káťa Kabanová by Janáček. In the season 2016/17 was engaged as Badger and Priest in The cunning little vixen and Il comm endatore in Don Giovanni by the Glyndebourne Festival and Tour.
